Counselling sessions happen weekly, on the same day and at the same time for up to one year. This gives you the space to build a trusted relationship, to work at depth, and at a pace that feels right for you. It is important that you can commit to attending regularly to achieve progress within the work. However, you may choose not to take the full year of counselling support that is offered to you and your counsellor can help you to think about this within regular reviews of the work.
Our volunteer counsellors offer a range of approaches depending on their training, including Psychodynamic, Person Centred, Integrative, Humanistic, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). These counselling styles are considered when matching you with a counsellor as we try to achieve a good therapeutic fit that will assist the work. Our counsellors are regularly supervised by independent practitioners to ensure that they are working ethically and continuing to meet a professional standard.
