The Leicester Counselling Centre relies on its excellent team of volunteers, who have been an integral part of the Centre for over 40 years. The standard of its support is held in high regard by the local community and health professionals and its reputation is maintained by the careful selection of its team. We regularly recruit volunteers to join as counsellors and receptionists and a thorough application process exists to ensure that they are all appropriately trained for their individual role.
Qualified Counsellors
The Leicester Counselling Centre regularly recruits qualified and experienced counsellors to support the more complex and demanding clinical work that the Centre undertakes. Qualified counsellors joining our volunteer team benefit from remaining part of a network of professionals, accruing hours towards accreditation and having access to an excellent low-cost CPD Programme. Opportunities to access paid work, either by getting involved in our EAP Programme or beginning Private Practice using the Centre’s referral system and premises, is also available.

Placement Counsellors
The Centre works closely with local universities and colleges to provide placements for counsellors in training so they can gain the clinical experience necessary for their qualification. Placement counsellors go through a careful selection process and must be on a BACP/UKCP/NCPS approved training course at level 5 or above and have attended a minimum of 25 personal therapy hours to apply.
We are passionate about supporting students throughout the journey of their counselling training and recruit on a rolling basis. Placements come from a range of modalities and are able to share their course and training experiences with each other. Placement counsellors benefit from a safe and supported environment to begin practice, as well as a careful client allocation process, always making sure it is an appropriate match, so that both parties may positively benefit from the experience. Placement counsellors are offered opportunities to progress their clinical work and experience throughout their training journey, as well access the Centre’s low cost CPD Programme.
If you are currently on a BACP/UKCP/NCPS approved course, studying at level 5 or above, and attended at least 25 personal therapy hours, please download an application form below.

Please note, the recruitment of new trainee counsellors is currently paused until September 2024. Any applications received before then will be held on file. Suitable applicants will be contacted towards the end of August and invited to interview.
Receptionists
We also welcome new volunteer receptionists to cover the reception desk, which involves light administrative and telephone duties. You must be committed and reliable with a caring, empathic approach and able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
