Founded in 1981

The Leicester Counselling Centre is a charitable organisation founded in 1981 to provide affordable, long-term, counselling to adults who are experiencing mental health, social and emotional distress that disrupts their daily living. Our service reaches individuals across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland, making us one of the largest general counselling providers in Leicestershire.

The Centre provides a comfortable and confidential environment on the edge of Victoria Park and our large team of dedicated volunteer counsellors offer a non-judgemental space in which you can explore the difficulties you may be facing. At your initial assessment and throughout your counselling, our service will provide you with the opportunity to talk in confidence and work towards a clearer understanding of yourself and your needs.

The Centre is an organisational member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), abiding by their Standards of Practice and Ethical Framework.

Long Term Counselling Support

Long-term counselling provides an opportunity to meet with a counsellor, at the same day and time each week for up to one year. It provides the time and space to work at depth on the issues you may be facing, within a safe and confidential environment.

Is Counselling for Me?

Deciding to make contact can feel like a big step and it is important that you feel ready to commit to counselling. Our friendly assessors can help you to decide whether the Leicester Counselling Centre is for you, and answer any initial questions.

How to make a Referral

Making a referral is easy and you can choose to do this yourself (a self referral) or with the help of another health care professional who may already be involved in supporting you. You will need to check the eligibility criteria before making a referral.

I will remain eternally grateful for all the kind support your team has provided me to date when I was at my lowest. I feel I am now positively able to tackle and process my thoughts, feelings and with your kind support feel happy to move forward taking baby steps in the right direction.

Amazing service, supportive and helped me talk through my issues.

I just want to say thank you all your support whilst I’ve been attending the Counselling Centre. My therapist has played a huge part in my recovery journey. I thank them deeply.

Fantastic service! Helped to change my life. Would strongly recommend to anyone.
We all need a rock sometimes, even if we think we can manage/continue to be strong by ourselves.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the invaluable work you all are doing in helping people from various walks of life.

Thank you for giving me the chance to discover more about myself, heal and connect with my counsellor. It has been a really powerful experience for me, impossible without the support from the Centre.

I want to say a big thank you to the team at Leicester Counselling Centre who really provided me with a wonderfully supportive and safe space this past year. For you to continue offering sessions throughout the pandemic is a testament to the professionalism and care of the centre.
