The Leicester Counselling Centre is committed to ensuring that its services are accessible to people with disabilities.
We work to continually improve and enhance the experience of everyone who engages with the Centre to ensure it operates towards best practice in all accessibility areas. If you have any feedback regarding usability or accessibility of any aspect of our service, please contact us.
Accessing our website
The website is run by The Leicester Counselling Centre. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website and have listed the following resources to support easier access. However, we know that some parts of this website are not fully accessible and ask that you contact us if you require information in different formats.
Customise your reading experience
Support to access this website can be found through Immersive Reader (available in Microsoft Edge only), which offers facilities to simplify its layout, change font size and style, change text and line spacing, change background colour, or read text aloud. Enter and exit Immersive Reader mode by pressing F9 on your keyboard and using the menu to customise your settings.
Translate to a different language
Use Immersive Reader to translate the text into a wide range of languages. Enter and exit Immersive Reader mode by pressing F9 on your keyboard and using the menu to choose your preferred language. Alternatively, use the Google Translate function in the top left hand corner of your screen to choose your desired language.
Need further help?
If you are still experiencing difficulty with any content on our site or require assistance, please contact us during normal opening hours and we will be happy to assist.
AbilityNet also has advice on making your device easier to use.
Accessing our building
Wheelchair access
The Centre operates entirely on a single ground floor level, with step-free wheelchair access into the building. A pay and display carpark is located directly outside of our premises with designated disabled spaces.
A wheelchair accessible toilet is available on site.
Accessing our support
Support to contact us via telephone
If you need to contact us via the phone and you are deaf or have a hearing or speech impairment, you can use the free BT service Relay UK. Install the free app on your smartphone, tablet, or computer, which you can access on your app store. The Relay UK service itself is free. You will only pay your normal charges for the call.
Support in your preferred language
A number of different languages are spoken by our diverse team of volunteer counsellors. However, this is dependent on the make up of the team at any given time. We cannot guarantee that we can accommodate your preferred language, but are open to discussing the options available to you (please note, all initial assessment appointments are held in English only).
Convenient appointment times
We are committed to ensuring that no one faces barriers to accessing support. Your assessor will help you to think about the days and times that are most convenient for you to access your service to enable you to get the most benefit.
Remote support
A small provision of remote support is available, via telephone or Zoom, to individuals who are unable to access in-person support at the Centre. Remote counselling will be provided on the basis of a minimum contribution of £10 per session, offered for up to one year. To find out about eligibility criteria for remote support, please visit Alternative Routes to Access Support.
