The Leicester Counselling Centre was delighted to have been awarded a grant of £16,622 from Postcode Places Trust in July 2023, in recognition of the invaluable service it offers to the community of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The grant will contribute towards the increased provision of its long-term counselling, to adults experiencing mental health issues that disrupt their daily living. Demand for the service has increased dramatically since the recent pandemic, making it necessary to recruit a third staff member to support the clinical work of our large volunteer counsellor team. We are pleased to be able to respond to this increased need, offering more assessment sessions and recruiting additional volunteer counsellors to keep pace. However, we also recognise there remains a huge unmet need for mental health support across Leicestershire and that many services are working at capacity, making support from trusts such as Postcode Places Trust vital in the effort to continue to develop and grow our service.
